By January 15th, all unvaccinated Nike staff will be fired, as they will have failed to fulfil the company's self-imposed vaccination policy.
Exclusively reported by 'The Oregonian', an email has been shared that reportedly reveals how the company has communicated the expectations they hold for employees.
The email reportedly read:
"You failed to complete the verification process and our records show that you do not have an approved (exemption). As a result, you are not in compliance with the Policy and your employment is scheduled to be terminated on Saturday, January 15, 2022."
In October, Nike introduced the mandate that all employees were to be vaccinated unless they had a valid reason for exemption. The January 15 2022 deadline was also announced in October and unvaccinated staff can expect their employees to be terminated once the date is reached.
The company is expected to be met with some legal resistance surrounding this severe step however, due to Nike being a private company, it is believed they can enforce such regulations within their workplace.
There is much controversy behind the decision to terminate unvaccinated staff, as the debate focuses on whether it should be mandatory to undergo a medical procedure.
