Nike Suing MSCHF Over Lil Nas X "Satan Shoes" Collaboration

Nas X recently released his controversial "Satan Shoes" which included an inverted cross, a pentagram and even a drop of human blood. The shoes display the Bible scripture 'Luke 10:18' which talks about the Devil being sent down from heaven, which has offended many of the Christian faith.

Nike has now claimed copyright infringement against the shoes.

Nike is filing a copyright trademark infringement claim against MSCHF, which have customised their Air Max 97 shoes. The Nike team have asked the court to prevent MSCHF from selling the shoe, as well as stopping the use of their famous swoosh design mark, according to the BBC. They are concerned that the controversy around the shoe will cause unwarranted criticism directed at them, which has already begun.

"MSCHF and its unauthorised Satan Shoes are likely to cause confusion and dilution and create an erroneous association between MSCHF's products and Nike," according to the Nike brand.

"In fact, there is already evidence of significant confusion and dilution occurring in the marketplace, including calls to boycott Nike in response to the launch of MSCHF's Satan Shoes, based on the mistaken belief that Nike has authorised or approved this product."Lil Nas' actions have certainly rocked the internet. He began to cause controversy when he released his recent music video "Montero", which depicted him lap dancing for the Devil.

There was also a scene of him arriving in Hell from Heaven via a strip pole. When he went to release the "Satan Shoes" all 666 pairs apparently sold out in under a minute.

Many took to Twitter to voice their concerns. One user said "So you're telling me Lil Nas X released a shoe called "Satan Shoes". Then proceeded to put a Bible verse on it???? I'm out of words rn. Lil Nas X has not formally addressed the lawsuit, but he dosen't seem to be phased as he has been creating multiple memes about the ordeal:
