A video is currently circulating online showing a drunken man boarding a bus in Whitechapel while intoxicated and shouting racist abuse at the driver after missing his stop.
According to the person who filmed the incident, he and another passenger stepped in to challenge the man’s behaviour after witnessing the debauchery. In the video, which has now been viewed tens of thousands of times, the man can be heard shouting some of the most vile slurs, including calling the driver a “stupid p*ki n*gger pig.”
The man, who appears obviously intoxicated and unkempt, does not have his behaviour left unchallenged, as the videographer shouts in response, “you racist tosser”. The man responds, “well he should’ve opened the door back there”, referring to the bus driver. However, the videographer quickly tells the man, “I’m going to make you famous”, whilst recording his unacceptable actions.
When asked to repeat his racist slur, the man backtracks and states, “I called [the driver] a good for nothing racist pig”. However, the videographer’s quick reaction meant there was little point in lying, and when he reminded the man what he actually said, the man responded by shouting “yeah, yeah, yeah p*ki” alongside some unusually chaotic gestures.
Before the video ends, the man is seen chaotically running off the bus and rambling something along the lines of being “nervous”. The videographer gives the man some seemingly much-needed advice: “Don’t drink. It’s not good for you. You racist tosser.”
The confrontation reportedly led to the individual getting off the bus shortly afterwards, and one woman wearing an Islamic head covering can be seen exiting before the video ends, though it is unclear if the man is the direct cause. The footage has since been widely shared online, prompting discussion about passenger safety and the importance of intervening in abusive situations.
