Singer Mabel has surprised fans with the announcement that she has welcomed her first child with husband Preye Crooks, after managing to keep her entire pregnancy away from the public eye.

The 30-year-old singer revealed the news on Sunday with a short video montage documenting her journey from pregnancy to motherhood. Rather than making a traditional announcement, Mabel let the footage do the talking, taking fans through months of moments that had previously remained completely private.

The video shows glimpses of her growing baby bump, ultrasound scans and preparations ahead of the baby's arrival, before moving into footage from the delivery room and Mabel's first days as a new mum.

She can also be seen sharing intimate moments with her newborn, offering fans their first glimpse into a major new chapter of her life. Mabel did not include a caption with the announcement, while Preye celebrated his wife and their baby in the comments, writing: “My Two Superstars.”

The couple have so far kept further details about their newborn private.

The surprise arrival comes just over a year after Mabel married music executive Preye Crooks, the son of former Tottenham Hotspur footballer Garth Crooks.

The pair met through a mutual friend during lockdown before beginning their relationship, and Preye proposed in November 2024. They tied the knot in London in July 2025, with celebrations spanning several days and including a ceremony at St Stephen Walbrook church followed by a reception at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Around 160 guests attended the V&A celebrations, which also incorporated elements of the couple's different cultures.

The daughter of singer Neneh Cherry and producer Cameron McVey, Mabel began releasing music as a teenager before breaking through with her 2017 hit “Finders Keepers.” She later found international success with tracks including “Don’t Call Me Up” and won British Female Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards in 2020.

Despite spending almost a decade in the spotlight, Mabel managed to experience one of the biggest changes in her personal life completely privately, only choosing to bring fans along once her baby had safely arrived.
