Dejon Noel-Williams, a 26-year-old semi-professional footballer and upcoming Love Island contestant, was recently questioned by police regarding an alleged phone theft during a night out in London. The incident, which occurred on March 16, involved a dispute over payment for food and an Uber ride. Noel-Williams voluntarily spoke with authorities, and the matter was resolved without charges.
Following recent reports that sparked a wave of speculation online, the Love Island star has broken his silence. The reality TV personality firmly denied the claims circulating on social media, stating that he was not arrested and that the rumours are simply untrue.
Noel-Williams, who plays for Bedford Town and is the son of former professional footballer Gifton Noel-Williams, addressed the situation publicly, stating,
"I was never arrested and cooperated fully with authorities."
He emphasised his commitment to transparency and his desire to move forward.
"ITV, the network behind Love Island, confirmed awareness of the incident prior to casting Noel-Williams.
A spokesperson noted,
"We conduct thorough background checks and screenings for all participants."
The Shade Borough has obtained messages alleged to be from the individual at the centre of the claims.
In Noel-Williams public statement, he also said,
"Out of Respect too the other people involved here, I would prefer not to have to address this, but I have no choice given that the narrative that has been put forward is unfortunately damaging and completely inaccurate."
It continues,
"I was never arrested; I voluntarily spoke to the police to clarify the truth about what happened in this incident, with no further action taken. To stress, my intentions here were entirely honourable, and it is very upsetting to read claims that suggest otherwise."
Noel-Williams is set to join the Love Island villa, seeking a partner who is "beautiful inside and out." The new eason premieres on Monday, June 9, at 9 PM on ITV2.
