Laura Whitmore responded to Rachel Finni's claim that Whitmore's relationship with Love Island narrator Ian Stirling is the reason she was chosen as the host of this year's Love Island.

Rachel Finni sat down on content creator Murad Merali's podcast to discuss her experience as a Love Island 'bombshell' in the latest season of the ITV reality series.When discussing her excitement for the upcoming series, Rachel said that she is "gutted" about this year's choice of host.Laura Whitmore is the confirmed host of the 2022 series and is believed to have signed a half a million pound deal for the position.

Speaking candidly, Rachel says either Maya Jama or AJ Odudu would be a better fit for the show as they "relate more to the cast".According to Rachel, Maya Jama and AJ Odudu "have a bit more personality" and "are not there just because they are married to the narrator". She continues by saying that Caroline Flack brought "oomph" to the show and Laura Whitmore allegedly brings nothing.Just a few days later, Laura addressed these comments while answering questions from supporters on her Instagram story.

She said: "I think we need to be careful when we discuss women and their work.""I've worked in Telly for fourteen years. I won a competition to be the face of MTV and stayed working from job to job.""I've done incredible things all over the world. Worked with the best teams. But I've never got a job because of a guy that I've dated."Despite Murad Merali agreeing with Rachel, Whitmore's response becomes particularly targeted towards Rachel when she says: "It's horrible when you see it coming from other women."She claims that women have been "defined by who they're going out with despite all the work and build up they've done leading up to that."Whitmore made it clear that women are their own individual people with their own experience.
