Jesy and her fiancé Zion Foster welcomed twin daughters on 15 May 2025, arriving prematurely at 31 weeks and five days after a high-risk pregnancy and complications including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.

In an emotional video shared with her followers, the former Little Mix star explained that SMA impacts the nerves that control voluntary muscles, including those used for breathing, swallowing and basic movement. Jesy described the diagnosis as overwhelming, admitting she had little prior knowledge of the condition before her daughters were born.

The singer’s journey into motherhood already had its share of complications, with Jesy experiencing a high-risk pregnancy and going into premature labour, having her twins born earlier than expected. 

“ From the minute I left NICU, I was told your babies are premature so do not compare your babies to other babies…take them as they are, and they’ll get to where they need to be.” she recalled in her video.

She detailed the emotional strain of spending extended periods in hospital, and adjusting to life around treatment schedules and specialist care, marking the experience as “something no mother should ever have to do on their child.”

  Despite the fear and uncertainty, Jesy praised the medical teams supporting her daughters, describing their care as crucial during an incredibly fragile time.

SMA is a genetic condition caused by the loss of motor neurons in the spinal cord and brainstem. While its severity can vary, early diagnosis and treatment are considered vital in improving outcomes. Jesy emphasised the importance of early intervention and said she wanted to speak openly to raise awareness about a condition that many parents may not encounter until faced with it themselves.

Addressing her followers, Jesy thanked fans for their messages of support and kindness, explaining that she is taking each day as it comes and focusing on being present for her daughters. She said sharing her story was not easy but felt it was important to be honest about the realities of motherhood, particularly when it does not unfold as expected.

Since posting the video, Jesy has received widespread support online, with many praising her openness and bravery. Her decision to speak publicly has also sparked renewed conversation around SMA, premature birth, and the often unseen challenges faced by parents navigating complex neonatal care.
