30-year-old Spanish influencer Fati Vázquez has disclosed she’s received sickening death threats after being linked in the media with 17‑year‑old FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, following holiday snaps showing them sharing similar Italian locations, but both deny any romantic involvement. The controversy began after images emerged of Yamal relaxing on a yacht and beside an infinity pool in Pantelleria, Italy.
Fati posted nearly identical scenes from the same location days later, prompting intense speculation and outrage due to their 12‑year age gap, and Yamal still being a minor. Speaking of the social media backlash, Fati said the threats were “sickening” and affected both her and her family. She emphasised the importance of kindness and understanding online, urging critics to consider the effects of their words.
In her post translated from English to Spanish it read:
"It's sad to see people who have such darkness inside that they wish death on someone they don't even know.
What others project, speaks more about them than me.
I choose to live with the purpose of continuing to grow and surrounding myself with light.
To those who wish me ill, I wish them healing, because nobody who is well in themselves wishes the destruction of another."
Another influencer, Javi De Hoyos, dismissed the rumours after reportedly speaking directly with the footballer. In a statement to The Sun, De Hoyos said Yamal “Categorically denies any romantic involvement” and added that the youngster; “Would not have gone alone to this holiday place but with other Barça team-mates… Fati probably does have something with another Barça person or is a friend of another team-mate.”
Fati, originally from Galicia in northwest Spain, was oncee a flight attendant. She has almost 400,000 followers on Instagram and more than 320,000 on TikTok.
