You've heard the saying that the dating pool is full of pee. Who knew it was also full of poo? A beautician has shared an almost unbelievable story involving a friend's disastrous date with a man she met on the dating app Hinge — and the ending is enough to put anyone off dating for life. According to the account, the woman had met the man several times before agreeing to go to his house for a dinner date. Everything appeared to be going well until she excused herself to use the bathroom.

That's when the nightmare began.

After using the toilet, she discovered it wouldn't flush. Mortified and embarrassed, she reluctantly told her date about the problem. To his credit, he appeared understanding, sympathetic, and reassuring, telling her not to worry while he went to sort it out.

Still humiliated, the woman phoned a friend from the bathroom and explained what had happened. She admitted she wanted to leave immediately.

Her friend tried to calm her down but eventually told her that if she felt uncomfortable, she should simply go home.

Decision made, she headed upstairs to find her date and let him know she was leaving.

What she allegedly walked in on next left her horrified.

According to the story, she found the man in the bathroom with a spoon, eating what she had left in the toilet bowl.

The woman reportedly screamed and fled the house.

She later contacted the police, who were unable to take any action. However, she claims officers told her they had received multiple reports and complaints concerning the same man in the Greenwich area.

Whether it sounds unbelievable or not, the story quickly spread online, prompting thousands of shocked reactions.

Among the most memorable responses were comments from the TSB Instagram account, which perfectly captured the internet's collective horror:

"Can somebody please turn off the internet."

And perhaps even more dramatically:

"Gabriel, Raphael, St Michael … blow the fucking trumpets. We're finished."

Another social media user summed up the lesson many people were taking away from the story:

"Note to self. Don't eat a man's food ... and don't trust his toilet."

If dating apps weren't already difficult enough, this story has left many people wondering what other horrors might be lurking behind a seemingly innocent dinner invitation.
