GUAP Gala 2022 - Here Are Some of the Outfits From The Night!

The GUAP gala took place yesterday evening (October 7th 2022) to highlight the key individuals and brands that contribute to the creative black culture.

On their site, they stated they wanted to focus on the contributors who's social impact is often overlooked by traditional award ceremonies.

The gala was scheduled to take place at the Natural History Museum in Mid September 2022, however it was postponed presumably due to Queen Elizabeth's death on the 8th of September 2022.

The theme for the event was "fairytales & folklore" and the attendees certainly delivered.

The women used this chance to channel their inner princesses, as several well known faces wowed with gorgeous gowns.

Influencers Uche Natori and Adeola Patronne stunned in red and orange statement pieces. Meanwhile, the likes of Nella Rose, Mariam Musa and Jourds opted for the ice queen effect.

Mariam Musa

YouTuber Mariam Musa arrived as the Ice Queen with a carefully thought out and intricate white dress design.

Julie Adenuga

Whilst many women opted for a princess outlook, presenter and TV personality Julie Adenuga decided to attend at the villain, owning the event in an all black and lacy number.

Madame Joyce

Podcast host and social media personality Madame Joyce said no to princesses or villains, and said yes to being a fairy God mother! Looking beautiful in a purple piece matched with a purple veil, Joyce looked ready to make anybody's wishes come true!

Among the men, a more varied approach was taken. Some of the male attendees arrived in simple attire paired with a magic accent such as an armoured hand or a mask.

Since the event, social media has begun commenting on the choice of outfits from the men, with many displeased with supposed lack of effort shown by the male attendees.

Kwajo

Other men, like social housing activist Kwajo, took the theme as an opportunity to go all out and arrive as a king!

Approximately 21 awards were given out on the night including Content Creator of the Year, Podcast of the Year, Actor To Watch, Musician To Watch, Creative Business of the Year, Best Model and more.
