Fat Joe’s former hypeman has filed a $20 million (approx £15 million) lawsuit against the US rapper, alleging he engaged in sex acts with minors. Ex-hypeman Terrance “T.A.” Dixon claims that Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, partook in “coercive labour exploitation, financial fraud, sexual manipulation, violent intimidation, and psychological coercion”. Dixon also alleged that he “personally witnessed” the ‘Lean Back’ rapper have sexual relations with children aged fifteen and sixteen.
Dixon alleged Fat Joe forced him “into humiliating situations, including sex acts performed under duress and surveillance, accompanied by threats of abandonment in foreign countries if [he] refused compliance.” Dixon added, “he was coerced into more than 4,000 sexual acts to maintain his standing within the Enterprise.” The lawsuit also claims that Dixon faced “a wide spectrum of sexual coercion, psychological control, forced exhibitionism, and surveillance-based humiliation, including being compelled to perform sex acts under observation, being filmed, or directed by [Fat Joe] in the presence of others - tactics designed to control Plaintiff’s body, erode his autonomy, and ensure silence.”
The lawsuit claims that Fat Joe was sexually involved with a 16-year-old Dominican girl, who would perform “oral sex and other sexual acts” on the rapper “in exchange for cash, clothing, and payment of her cell phone bill”. The 15-year-old girl mentioned in the lawsuit was described as a caucasian girl who Fat Joe began having sexual relations with following an overseas concert. Dixon alleged that the rapper had flown the 15-year-old to New York City and Miami on several occasions. Further allegations suggest that Fat Joe financed a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) procedure for the teen since her body had not yet reached full development.
Dixon listed another teen in the lawsuit, this time a Latina girl who allegedly met Fat Joe when she was 15, and he was in his late 30s. The filing mentioned that Fat Joe was “in love” with this girl and even considered leaving his wife, Lorena Cartagena. It was alleged that Fat Joe would pay for this girl’s bills and take her on overseas tours. In the lawsuit, Dixon said: “He brought her to Florida and would put her up in a condo he rented a few blocks from his house with his wife,”.
Dixon, who worked with the ‘What’s Luv?’ rapper from 2006 to 2019, claimed that he was “consistently underpaid, denied songwriting credits and deliberately concealed from royalties and backend compensation.” He claimed to be Fat Joe’s “lyricist, background vocalist, security team member, and creative collaborator”. Dixon is allegedly suing several other parties, including Roc Nation.
Fat Joe has heavily denied the claims made in the lawsuit. Fat Joe’s attorney has also suggested that Dixon’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, “improperly files cases in federal court to garner media attention, embarrass defendants with salacious allegations and press defences.” His attorney has also claimed to have spoken to the victims mentioned in the filing, alleging they deny being harmed by Fat Joe.
