ENGLAND THROUGH TO THE SEMI FINALS OF THE WORLD CUP AFTER BEATING NORWAY 2-1

Residents, could it really be coming home? England are through to the FIFA World Cup semi finals after Jude Bellingham made his mark on British football history, scoring twice in a dramatic 2 1 extra time victory over Norway in Miami.

Thomas Tuchel’s side looked to be heading out after Andreas Schjelderup’s fortunate first half opener gave Norway the lead. England struggled to find their rhythm for long spells in the intense Florida heat, while Norway looked the more dangerous side and even thought they had doubled their advantage before a goal was ruled out following a VAR review.

The match also placed close friends Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland on opposite sides of one of football’s biggest stages. The pair’s much loved bromance began when they first played together at Borussia Dortmund between 2020 and 2022, but friendship was briefly put aside as Bellingham’s two goals ended Haaland and Norway’s World Cup dream.

Just when England’s World Cup dream appeared to be slipping away, Bellingham stepped up once again. The midfielder equalised late in normal time before completing the comeback with a composed finish in extra time to send the Three Lions into the last four.

Bellingham’s brace takes his tally to six goals at the tournament, continuing his remarkable World Cup campaign and once again proving decisive on the biggest stage. The match was packed with drama, tactical changes and several key saves from Jordan Pickford as England survived sustained Norwegian pressure before turning the tie around.

Despite booking their place in the semi finals, Tuchel admitted afterwards that his side were far from their best, with England relying on resilience and moments of individual brilliance rather than a polished team performance.

England will now face Argentina in the semi finals as they move to within two victories of lifting their first men’s World Cup since 1966. We have already heard that we could be in for a bank holiday if it comes home once again. We do not know if they will do it, but for now at least, the dream lives on!
