Nottinghamshire's Conservative police and crime commissioner Caroline Henry has been banned from driving for six months after she was caught speeding five times

A Conservative police and crime commissioner who was caught speeding five times has now been banned from driving for six months.Caroline Henry, 52, from Nottinghamshire, reportedly pledged to combat speeding on the roads, but was caught breaking 30mph speed limits in four different locations.The PCC committed the speeding offencesbetween March and June 2021 in Nottinghamshire. She was found to be driving over the speed limit twice near a primary school, as well as Chilwell, Beeston and the A610.In a statement outside the court, she said: "I'm truly sorry for speeding. Quite properly I've been fined and banned from driving for six months.

"I remain committed to serving the people of Nottinghamshire as police and crime commissioner."

Henry is also receiving a "2,450 fine in addition to her six month driving ban.District judge Leo Pyle said: "What they show is that you are driving at consistent speeds above the speed limits. What I haven't been told is why."Whether that was due to work or during your private time, you must allow time to get to your destination safely. Speed limit [cameras] are sited... not at places where they can issue maximum amounts in fines, but for safety reasons."

Lilian Greenwood, Labour MP for Nottingham South wrote on Twitter: "The public deserve better - it's untenable for her to continue in her role."
