CHRIS BROWN DENIED BAIL AND REMANDED IN CUSTODY UNTIL JUNE 13TH BY MANCHESTER COURT

Global superstar Chris Brown has been denied bail and remanded in custody by a Manchester judge until his upcoming plea and trial preparation hearing on June 13 (just two days before he was scheduled to perform at Manchester's Co-op Live Arena).

The 36-year-old R&B singer has not been able to fully escape his tumultuous reputation for many years. After a string of accusations of violence, most notably his 2009 assault against mogul and popstar Rihanna (which left her with several facial lacerations including bite marks), Brown found himself having to explain his actions once again at Manchester Magistrates Court earlier today.

It may be safe to say that Brown had expected to customarily bail himself out at his hearing this morning, as the star appeared In court wearing a black t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and his iconic bleach blonde hair. Brown is currently facing charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, charges he has so far neither denied or admitted as he is yet to enter a plea. Brown's charges stem from a February 2023 incident at Tape Nightclub in central London, where he is accused of attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle.

During the hearing, prosecutor Hannah Nicholls told the court that Brown had

struck Mr Diaw with the bottle several times before chasing him and proceeding to punch and kick him in an attack caught on CCTV. Nichols added that Brown had committed:

"an unprovoked attack with a weapon in a nightclub full of people".

Whilst the alleged CCTV footage has not been released to the general public, the evidence against Brown was deemed “too serious” by District Judge Joanne Hirst, to be resolved by her court, before she sent Brown's case to London’s Southwark Crown Court.

The decision to remand Brown will no doubt affect his upcoming tour, which was scheduled to kick off in the Netherlands on 8 June.
