According to police reports, Rita Ora's team offered a restaurant £5,000 to break lockdown rules for her 30th birthday.

During the party at Casa Cruz in Notting Hill, Rita's security team also asked the restaurant to turn off the CCTV. In a licensing hearing, it was revealed that the CCTV hard drives were wiped two days later.The pop star has previously apologised for her "spur of the moment" decision to throw the celebration on November 28 last year, in violation of coronavirus restrictions.Despite her previous apology; the venue is accused of breaching licensing rules and health and safety regulations.

The licensing committee is now considering to revoke the licence of the restaurant.Another celebrity caught in the maze was former love Islander Ellie Brown; who was hit with a hefty 6 month driving ban and £1,937 fine, for speeding at 101 mph in her £40,000 Mercedez in June 2019.

Ellie put forward a plea against the driving ban citing that she does a lot of travelling to do shoots; from London to Scotland to leeds."My fashion brand's factory is in Leicester and I have to go there carrying a lot of stock", she added. However, her plea was rejected by the court.

Alarming numbers

The number of celebrities breaking lockdown rules is alarming. Charles Holland, a lawyer representing the police, told the licensing sub-committee to send a strong and clear message to the hospitality trade and to the wider public about these kinds of breaches.

Slamming Rita and the venue, he said they had acted ''selfishly wanted to flout the lockdown for financial gain and selfish pleasure''.

''This was one of the most notorious breaches of regulations during the pandemic" he added.The manager of the restaurant has since been sacked and the fate of Rita is yet to be determined.
