Science content creator Emmanuel Wallace, known to millions as Big Manny, has officially been awarded an Honorary Doctor of the University degree by Open University and residents love to see it 👏🏾
Widely recognised for his ability to make science actually make sense, Manny has built a huge following by breaking down complex topics into simple, fun and engaging content, especially for younger audiences.
From turning everyday items into experiments like fidget spinners made from copper and zinc, to extracting DNA from wild berries in his back garden, his content has made science feel less like a classroom chore and more like something you actually want to try at home.
Manny, who holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, first started creating videos back in 2021 during the Covid 19 lockdowns. At the time, he was working as a secondary school science technician and wanted to support students struggling with remote learning.
What started as a way to help quickly turned into something much bigger.
Now, with millions of followers across platforms like Instagram and TikTok, Manny continues to share educational content based on the National Curriculum, all filmed from his back garden.
His impact has gone far beyond social media, inspiring a new generation to engage with science in a way that feels relatable and exciting.
Residents, from classroom to honorary doctor… Big Manny really did that 👏🏾🎓
