Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel has revealed that he has met his daughter Amani for the very first time, sharing the emotional moment with fans on social media.

The 50-year-old artist posted a photograph of himself standing alongside his daughter outdoors, surrounded by palm trees and a swimming pool backdrop, marking a moment that had been years in the making.

Alongside the image, Kartel opened up about the overwhelming emotions he felt during the meeting.

"Words could never fully express how happy I felt in this moment," he wrote.

"Since the day before yesterday, meeting my daughter Amani for the very first time has filled my heart in ways I can’t even explain."

The father and daughter had never previously met due to Kartel's lengthy prison stint. The dancehall superstar spent more than a decade behind bars after being arrested in 2011 before his conviction was ultimately overturned in 2024.

Amani, who is now believed to be around 15 years old, was born during the years he was imprisoned, making this their first opportunity to meet face-to-face.

Despite his larger-than-life reputation, Vybz admitted the encounter left him feeling something he rarely experiences.

"I never thought a woman could make me nervous… but standing beside my daughter for the first time humbled me deeply," he wrote.

"Life has a way of reminding you what truly matters, and moments like these make everything feel bigger than yourself."

Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in dancehall history, Vybz Kartel built a global fanbase through hits such as Fever, Romping Shop, Summertime and Clarks, helping shape modern dancehall music for an entire generation.

Since regaining his freedom in 2024, Vybz has steadily returned to public life, performing, travelling internationally and reconnecting with loved ones.

He ended his message by thanking God for the moment, adding the hashtags #GodistheGreatest and #GodandTime 🙏🏾❤️
