The man who went viral after dashcam footage showed him pleading with a taxi driver while being attacked and shouting “Uncle Drive” has reportedly been arrested and charged in the United States over alleged fraud.
Bilal BenAbdallah Islam Charles, who is from London, is facing multiple allegations linked to the alleged theft of Bitcoin and Ethereum worth approximately $167,000, as well as purchases of iPads from retail stores.
According to the listed court charges, Charles faces a pending count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, alongside allegations involving the fraudulent use of unauthorised access devices and conducting illegal transactions using an access device.
A separate complaint also lists an access device fraud allegation.
The charges relate to alleged financial offences involving cryptocurrency and payment methods. However, the case remains ongoing, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
Charles first gained widespread attention online through dashcam footage in which he could be heard repeatedly shouting “Uncle Drive” while pleading with a taxi driver during an apparent attack. The clip circulated widely across social media, turning the phrase into a viral catchphrase.
His reported arrest has now brought renewed attention to the man behind the viral moment, with the US case centred on alleged financial offences rather than the incident that originally made him known online.
