A jury has cleared Chelsea footballer Sam Kerr of racially aggravated harassment after she was accused of calling a police officer "stupid and white." The case stemmed from a January 2023 incident in southwest London when Kerr and her partner, Kristie Mewis, were taken to a police station following a dispute with a taxi driver.

UK Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has unveiled a controversial new immigration proposal, calling for stricter rules on citizenship eligibility. A groundbreaking study has found no link between banning phones in schools and improvements in pupils’ grades or mental wellbeing. Researchers also found no differences in students' sleep, classroom behaviour, or exercise between schools with and without bans. However, excessive smartphone and social media use was linked to worse academic performance and health outcomes. Lead author Dr Victoria Goodyear stressed that simply banning phones is not enough and urged a broader approach to reducing screen time.

A 77-year-old woman was found pushing the severely decomposed remains of her daughter in a wheelchair around Walthamstow town centre, 14 months after her death. Drill rapper Digga D has been sentenced to three years and 11 months for supplying 50kg of cannabis. A judge ruled that while he and his friends consumed some of the drugs, the majority was sold on.
